Dr. Susan Ervin Nursing Legacy Scholarship

Dr. Susan Ervin, 1951-2024

Susan Melanie Ervin passed away on August 10, 2024. She was born on September 25, 1951, to John and Zena Ervin in San Francisco. Her family moved to Reno in 1958 where she attended school, graduating from Earl Wooster High School. After high school Susan attended the University of Utah at Salt Lake City and received her bachelor and masters degrees in nursing. She returned to Reno where she became Assistant Professor at Orvis School of Nursing at the University of Nevada Reno and received her Ph.D. in nursing. As assistant professor she received the F. Donald Tibbits Distinguished Teacher Award, the 2011 Outstanding Teacher Award and the 2010 Most Inspirational Faculty Award. She held memberships with the Nevada Nurses Association, Sigma Nu Iota, Soroptimist International of Truckee Meadows, and Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) International.
